Griffin Photography

Let’s have an honest chat. Since the start of my career, 20 years ago I have battled with men in the fashion industry. I have always worked so hard, been very driven and battled my way to where I am today.  Had tons of rejections, and lost lots of leads but thats part of the journey. Battling with big dreams and rejection is like being on a rollercoaster.

There are some awesome male photographers out there who I admire greatly so I don’t want to come across as sounding like I don’t like men and there are plenty of very talented and respected male photographers in my field who are doing a great job.

I had a chat with a female model the other day and we were talking about all of the fashion campaigns she has been involved in. I asked her that with so many campaigns she has modelled for, was any of those photographers women? Her answer was no.

This shocked me. I then said to her  “imagine if the WHOLE team was women, I wonder what the images would look like at the end?”

It gets you thinking! I think it’s a shame to be honest because, for some jobs I have gone after, it doesn’t matter how hard you work, how good you are a man would win the brief.  I really hope that this changes over the next few years and more female photographer get recognised.
